Lyrebird sculpture, Limited Edition of 15 only

I see the reclusive Suberb Lyrebirds from time-to-time scratching in the leaf litter of the rainforest near my home and studio in the Coffs Harbour hinterland. In this artwork I was inspired to try to capture the elegance of the male lyrebird with his eye-catching tail feathers.

By using bark to represent the tail and wings, my aim is to focus attention on the lyrebird’s habitat which is shrinking due to human activities.

The sculpture is available as one of an edition of 15. It is cast in bronze from the original wax using the lost wax process (cire perdue). Each copy is numbered and signed.
